Classic Captain Scarlet blu-rayThe first volume includes The Mysterons, Winged Assassin, Big Ben Strikes Again, Point 783, Manhunt, Operation Time, Renegade Rocket and White as snow, with further volumes being released in the coming months, and into early 2018.

As you’ll see from the trailer above, the picture quality is absolutely phenomenal. These episodes have been restored from the film negatives. It’s the first time the film negatives have been used to produce a home entertainment release of the series, so the picture quality, clarity and colour of the restoration is unrivalled.

The first Captain Scarlet Blu-ray volume is also presented in a special ‘scarlet’ Blu-ray case, and features one of the stunning and inimitable Ron Embleton end-title cards.

Captain Scarlet and the Mysterons volume 1 is available exclusively from Network’s website, and can be pre-ordered now for delivery in November.

Will they be available as NTSC Blu-rays for the United States?

    • Cabo 5150

There’s no such thing as NTSC Blu-ray’s. These Blu-ray’s will have a 1080p 4:3 image coded into a 1920×1080 pixel area (black bars on either side). Your only issue will be regional coding, but I’m 99.9% certain these discs will be region free as I presume Network will want to sell internationally.

I’m going to assume the frame rate will be 23.976 fps, but it is possible it’ll be an even 24 – as the Space:1999 sets were.

    • No need – they are region free. You’ll be able to play them anywhere! 🙂
