If you’re an Anderson fan then you won’t want to miss Flights of Fantasy this weekend! In particular the event is an exciting opportunity for fans to meet Sylvia Anderson – co-creator of iconic science fiction series like Thunderbirds.
It’s not too late to get your tickets for the Flights of Fantasy event at RAF Cosford. Organised by collector and Supermarionation enthusiast Chris King the event features a comprehensive display of original puppets together with replica (and some original) props and sets.
This year’s event has some very special guests including Sylvia Anderson, Brian Johnson, Alan Perry, Alan Shubrook, Tony Day, Mary Turner and Judith Shutt.
For this weekend only the RAF Cosford will be hosting the exhibition and attendees will have the opportunity to view puppets of iconic characters such as Thunderbirds, Joe 90, Steve Zodiac, the heroic pilot of Fireball XL5, Captain Scarlet and many many more. These characters inspired a generation when the sci-fi series hit TV screens in the 60’s and 70’s. Many of the puppets are newly discovered and restored studio puppets from the series and are on public exhibition for the first time. There will also be a stunning display of models, costumes, vehicles and sets from the classic live action shows Space 1999 and UFO.
The exhibition will be taking place in the National Cold War Exhibition alongside a backdrop of aircraft which inspired the look and design of the shows. There will also be a number of trade stands with associated merchandise.
Plus in an exclusive ticketed event taking place in the bunker style Lecture Theatre, visitors will be treated to an audience with creators, producers, model makers, puppeteers and voice artists.
The guests will talk about their outstanding careers and give people an insight into what it was like to make these iconic shows.
Timings – 10.00 to 16.30
Admission to the exhibition is free of charge (parking charges apply)
