As many of your will have seen last weekend – Anderson Entertainment and Big Finish announced the return of Terrahawks, Gerry Anderson and Christopher Burr’s 1983 cult TV series, with a deal to produce an audio series of eight brand new episodes. The announcement was made at Andercon with new Terrahawks audio series sequence produced by IDO Design & Animation, in homage to Kevin Davies’ iconic computer game style title sequence from the original series.
The original Terrahawks cast is on board, with Jeremy Hitchen (Ninestein, Hiro, It-Star), Robbie Stevens (101, Hawkeye, Yung-Star) and Denise Bryer (Zelda and Mary Falconer) all joining the new audio series thirty years after production ended on the original TV show.
Jamie Anderson, Gerry’s son and Managing Director of Anderson Entertainment said, “39 episodes were originally produced of this hit TV series which had over nine million viewers each week, with development of another series underway when production ceased in 1984. We’ll be using stories planned for the unmade third TV season as well as developing new material, and hope to release the box set in spring 2015.”
As well as the original cast (with the exception of Ann Ridler who sadly passed away a few years ago, and Windsor Davies who has retired from acting) Mark Woollard (Terrahawks, Dick Spanner, Space Police, Space Precinct, New Captain Scarlet) and Terry Adlam (Terrahawks, Dick Spanner, Space Police) will be joining the team of writers for the series.
Nicholas Briggs, executive producer of Big Finish Productions, added, “I’m a huge fan of Gerry Anderson’s great TV shows and, for quite some time, it’s been my personal ambition for Big Finish to produce a series based on the great man’s work. I was lucky enough to meet his son Jamie a year or so ago and for a while now we’ve been working towards this moment. Terrahawks is a glorious slice of authentic Anderson, packed with larger-than-life characters, exciting stories and great, futuristic technology! It’s going to sound awesome, and we hope to add a visual dynamic too. I’m really excited about this.”
Terrahawks – Volume One is available for pre-order now at £25 on CD and £20 on download. The price will increase on release. The box set will also include a CD featuring a ‘making of’ documentary and other, yet to be revealed, free extras.
