Correction: The article previously stated the workshop was taking place on the 24th April. The correct date is in fact 2nd April 2017.
The West Midland Light Orchestra in conjunction with the Barry Gray Archive are staging a one day workshop on the 2nd April 2017, at WMLO’s home: Stourport Manor Hotel, 35, Hartlebury Road, Stourport, Worcs DY13 9JA.
The idea for this has come from WMLO’s M.D. David Etheridge, currently a mature student at Birmingham Conservatoire. A life-long Barry Gray fan, he approached Ralph Titterton of the Barry Gray archive with the idea.
The day will not be a formal concert as such. Its intention is to rehearse (starting at 2.30pm) and play through authentic Barry Gray scores from Thunderbirds just as would have taken place at the original sessions in the 1960s. Both players and audience will be able to see how the music was rehearsed in a relatively short time, and the results will have an informal play through at the end of the day, starting around 7pm.
WMLO are looking for players who would like to join us for the day: French Horns, Strings, Harp and Percussion are particularly welcome. The cost to players is only £10 for the day to meet music costs, while for audiences pay £5.00 for the day. However, as we anticipate a large demand and places are limited, it’s best to book early so avoid disappointment.
Stourport Manor Hotel provides excellent meals, but once again, it’s best to book your meal(s) for the day in advance.
